Suplex is a Copy Ability in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby Super Star.

Games[]

Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra[]

Suplex first appears in Kirby Super Star. Suplex's main attacks allow Kirby to grab his enemies and throw them. Suplex is obtained from Jukid and Bugzzy, who gave Backdrop in Kirby's Adventure and is its Helper.

In the remake, Kirby Super Star Ultra, Suplex functions the same, except it is also obtained from Phan Phan, who previously gave Throw in Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land and Kirby & The Amazing Mirror.

Techniques[]

Move Controls Description Damage
Dash capture
Lifting up
Y Kirby dashes forward and grabs any inhalable enemy/projectile/block. This then allows him to initiate one of six throws on the ground or three in the air. Kirby is invincible while lifting, but if the player waits too long without performing a throw, Lariat will activate automatically. 0
Turbo dash capture
Lifting up
Dash + Y Same as Dash Grab, but Kirby moves faster and travels farther. 0
Quick stamping Y twice quickly (near enemy) Kirby stomps on top of the enemy several times in quick succession. This is Suplex's only throw that can be performed on the ground and in the air. Kirby remains in the same location throughout the throw, ignoring gravity when used in the air. 70
Pin point kick Directional Pad Down + Y (in the air) Kirby kicks straight downwards, bouncing off a foe after kicking it. It is the only attack in Suplex Kirby's arsenal that is not a grab. This move can be used to dent bosses and is usually used to stall until the boss throws out a projectile. 16
After lifting up
Back breaker Directional Pad Up Kirby makes a small hop in place, breaking the enemy over his shoulders, then throwing the target far off to the side. 70
Body slam Directional Pad Down Kirby throws his enemy onto the ground directly on the ground, bouncing them upwards. 70
Pile driver Directional Pad Right Kirby leaps forward and slams the enemy into the ground. 70
German suplex Directional Pad Left Kirby flips backwards and slams the grabbed object/foe against the ground, sending them backward. 70
Lariat Y Kirby holds the target in front of him, then punches it while moving forward slightly. This sends the grabbed object in a backwards arc. 70
Jumping body slam B Kirby makes a huge jump, holding the enemy over his head, then dives downwards and slams the enemy into the ground. If whatever Kirby is holding collides with a wall or ceiling, it is destroyed and the throw ends. 70
Air body slam Directional Pad Up or Directional Pad Right or Directional Pad Left (in the air) Kirby throws the target in a upward arc. 70
Air body down slam Directional Pad Down (in the air) Kirby throws the target into the ground, where it bounces at a higher angle. 70

Kirby Star Allies[]

Suplex returns in Kirby Star Allies, where it is again obtained from Bugzzy. Although Suplex's moveset is on par with its appearance in previous games, Dash Grab and Turbo Dash Grab can now damage bosses and destroy obstacles such as wooden boxes, and the Friend Abilities Friend Grab and Friend Throw can be executed, which has Kirby pick up one of his Friends and then hurl them, destroying larger obstacles, defeating enemies, and damaging bosses and mid-bosses.

In the Super Smash Bros. series[]

Many of Suplex's moves, particularly the forward and backward throws and the Fury Stomp are used when Kirby throws an enemy in the Super Smash Bros. series. The only exception is his up throw, which seems to be based on Ninja's Throw. Meta Knight's down throw is also the Fury Stomp.
